Changes in our Relief Society Presidency

We are losing Sister Marilyn Olsen as our RS Secretary, and gaining Josie Stillson as she accepts the new calling. However, Marilyn gave a wonderful farewell lesson today. Marilyn reminded us that we don't have to let the feelings of this past season go. "We have the opportunity to feel these same feelings all year." She urged us to make the choices that keep us within the gospel and on the right path. "The gospel gives us the opportunity to NOT be mired down by poor decisions of our past." Sister Olsen helped us see that our goals are standards, ideals, skills or destinations we want to accomplish or improve. In setting and accomplishing our goals we add to Heavenly Father's eternal goal of "Bringing to pass the immortality and eternal life of man" and thereby add to His power on this earth. Some of the New Year's resolutions suggested by the sisters were: Studying the SS lesson weekly, improving our temple attendance, continue reading and pondering the Book of Mormon as we study the D and C this year, learning how to organically restore our garden soil and, adding to our food storage. Sister Olsen asked us to be prayerful and meditate about new goals asking Heavenly Father's guidance in showing us where we are weak and where we need to improve. She told us to consult 1 Nephi 3:7 and realize Heavenly Father makes it possible for us to "go and do all the things which the Lord hath commanded me." It was such a terrific lesson and got us on track for the coming year. Sister Tonya Jensen summed it up perfectly and then reminded us what a great gift repentance is, allowing us to refocus our lives and set new goals.
